Bad Apple

The talk on the town is Apples iPhone 4 misfire. In one way you are not surprised since Apple has a solid track record of making really nice palmtop computers with lousy RF performance. On the other hand one stands in awe – how can the smartphone market leader goof up – again? I am not only talking about the technical problems, but how the problem is handled.  Apples response is of course close to ridiculous: Instead of doing a classical “poodle” (roll over and admit your inadequacy – yes we will fix the problem), Apple comes out trying to shift the blame on someone else – yes our new phone does not work properly – but it is technically difficult and some of our competitors products do not work well either.  What does this help me as customer?
