Nokia – brave or desperate (or both)?

In a recent piece by Telecom TV under the headline “Delusional Nokia claims youth are fed-up of the iPhone and irritated by Android“, the relevant question is asked whether Nokia now is really brave or just desperate. Taking their own (Windows) route and entering the smartphone market late gives them little option but to claim that iPhones and Androids are flukes and that the youth will soon get tired of them. “All phones in the store look like black mono-blocks” Nokias spokesmen state. To me, such a wierd statement sounds as if someone in the 1980:s would have claimed that personal computers all look the same and therefore are doomed to be just a fad. What the youth needs (according to Nokia) is preinstalled, out of the box, easy to use  entertainment packages, like streaming radio. Too complicated to download a new app? With currently 2B apps (iOS and Android) downloaded every month and the fact that every iOS user downloads on the average 60 apps per device, I think our neighbors are seriously underestimating the coming generation.

    Simply Desperate!
It seems to me Steve Ballmer might be training the Nokia spokesperson :)
