Seems like Light Squared are not backing away without a fight. Light Squared’s executive vice president for regulatory affairs and public policy told reporters that they are not going away and hoped that their wholesale partners hang on to them a little more. They have proposed a solution to the impasse by “swapping the spectrum with another licensed spectrum holder”.

‘Swapping the spectrum’??? Totally depends if the regulatory authority FCC would entertain such a request. On the other hand, the question would be if any spectrum holder would be willing to do the swap due to the strategic spectrum leverage it might have over other operators (unless Light squared’s spectrum is of more strategic value)
