Stealth wireless

Seems that the radiation hazard issue is still much alive. Operators try to hide their antennas or to put them in inconspicuous disguises like trees or lampposts.  On the other hand, looking at the example on the left, how inconspicuous is tree/bush on a roof ? :)

On a similar note: Back in 2007, I saw an interesting news on a local channel in UK. Some residents in the country side had filed lawsuit against an operator for installing a massive tower that was destroying the aesthetics of the area (full of green trees). The operator had to eventually take it down. Couple of months later they again tried installing the tower disguised as a tree so that it wont mess up the aesthetics. They were again sued by the local people. However, this time it was not the mast but an alien tree that standing out among other trees and not native to the region :)

I don’t think this has anything to do with the radiations or the like!
Operators seem to focus on the aesthetic aspect when deploying antennas in some areas.
A manager from Telefonica mentioned this very explicitely during a panel at WCNC…

credit to the photographer who made it look less horific than it does in reality then :)

Maybe some operators would like to become a part of global drive for green environment by planting green herbs/bushes everywhere they install a new site … It is a plausible theory.
