ITS Conference 2013 in Florence, Italy

I attended the 24th European Regional Conference of ITS which took place in Florence, Italy on the 20th – 23rd of October, 2013. This is the first time I attended ITS and it was both useful and interesting to attend conference sessions.
KTH Royal Institute of Technology was represented by a very big group of researchers: Jan Markendahl, Bengt Mölleryd, Amirhossein Ghanbari, Ashraf Widaa, Du Ho Kang, Evanny Obregon Gamarra, Lei Shi, Sang-wook Han, Razvan Popescu, Vlad-Ioan Bratu, and me (hope I have not forgotten anyone). Some of them have presented more than one paper. In addition Jan Markendahl was moderating a panel session on machine-to-machine communication.
The main themes of the conference were related to such topics as regulation in telecommunication sector, ethical and environmental issues of ICT, spectrum and broadband related problems, media, digital services and mobile applications. A number of sessions were running in parallel. I have attended sessions covering topics closely related to the area of my research area: digital services, consumer related questions, privacy issues, and mobile applications.
During the conference I have presented results of implemented exploratory study of consumer attitudes towards mobile ticketing in Sweden. The paper was written in co-authorship with Jan Markendahl and Niklas Arvidsson. The main finding of the research was an identification of barriers set by new ticketing solutions and changes in payment for SMS tickets.

PS: And when you are in Florence, do not forget to pay attention to traffic signs:
